X Factor contestant slams Nicole Scherzinger for tactical voting
Former X Factor contestant Gifty Louise has criticised Nicole Scherzinger and the other judges of conspiring to get her off of the show.
Sunday night saw the shock exit of Gifty after she was forced to face the sing-off against girl group Four of Diamonds. The singer delivered a spooky and sassy performance of “I’m in Love With a Monster” by Fifth Harmony for Fright Night Week, but apparently it was not enough for the viewers at home.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Gifty talked about how Nicole’s decision surprised her in particular: “I was a little bit surprised.
“On Xtra Factor Nicole kind of turned around and said Gifty shouldn’t have gone home, but you voted for me to go out..?”
The 20-year-old continued: “I was a bit confused by that. Ryan Lawrie’s been in the bottom three three times, Four of Diamonds have been in it twice — I’ve been in it once and they all vote for me to go.”
In another interview, Gifty admitted she feels the judges were conspiring to get her off the show.
She told DigitalSpy: “I personally think they planned to vote me out – so you know, it is weird really. I did hear Louis say to Sharon, ‘vote Gifty out’. And everyone heard it.
“I personally feel like they voted me out to get rid of the competition. They all voted me out – it’s fine, I take it as a compliment.
“They want me out because they think I can beat their other artists. That’s fine.”
However, an X Factor spokesperson told the website: “The judges make their decisions about who to send home in the sing-off purely based on the contestants’ singing and their performance.”
Next week it’s Girlband vs. Boyband Week and the eight remaining contestants will have to fight their place in the competition with some group hits.
X Factor continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
