The highly-anticipated John Lewis advert has arrived for 2017, which means it’s officially the Christmas season!
It’s the highlight of the festive season for much of the nation and, after weeks of speculation about when the iconic ad would drop, the the exciting new video finally aired this morning.
The advert tells the tale of seven-year-old boy Joe, who strikes up an unlikely friendship with the monster living under his bed, Moz.
A mysterious, loud snoring keeps Joe awake night after night but, one night in the run-up to Christmas Day, the young boy discovers what has been disrupting his sleep as the scruffy giant lets rip a large fart.
It’s not long before the two become the best of friends, and spend every night playing games until the early hours of the morning.
But the late nights start to take a toll on poor Joe, who struggles to stay awake during the day while he is at school.
Realising his nighttime appearances are disrupting Joe’s life, Moz the Monster decides to give him a present that will solve the problem.
Joe wakes up on Christmas morning to discover a badly wrapped nightlight under the treat and when he flicks on the special gift, he hears his imaginary friend’s snoring.
This year’s John Lewis advert was directed by Oscar-winner Michel Gondry and features Elbow’s cover of ‘Golden Slumbers’ by The Beatles.
