The Inbetweeners’ Joe Thomas hints at a reunion
The Inbetweeners‘ star Joe Thomas has implied there may be a reunion on the cards for Will, Simon, Jay and Neil after admitting: “We have spoken about it”.
The actor who brought us the hilariously awkward, spiky-haired Simon Cooper, Joe, has confessed that he would love to reunite with his former co-stars Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and James Buckley.
Speaking to The Sun, Joe said: “I would jump at any chance to work with those guys again — in any context, really.
“I love those guys and I would love to work with them again. We have spoken about it but it’s not really in our hands. We don’t write the show so it’s not down to us.”
However, Joe did admit that any reunion would need to move on from the boys’ teenage years. Now that all of the actors are entering their early 30s, the Fresh Meat star described how he’d like to see the show explore the characters’ lives as adults.
He explained: “I think that we are definitely too old now to do anything that is set in a sixth form.
“If it’s the case that you want to do a show about some sixth formers then obviously we can’t be involved in that, with the best will in the world.
“But we could do the originals ten years down the line, married with kids. I mean, we can do that now.”
The series may have come to a close for now, but at least we can take comfort in the fact that the boys are still in touch.
Joe is now working with James Buckley (Jay) on BBC2 comedy series White Gold. He added: “I do miss the show but we do get to see each other quite a lot anyway.
“It’s been great to work with James again — he’s a really good friend. Of course his penis was in White Gold, too. His penis has been in other stuff as well — I’m honestly bored of seeing it.”
Some things never change.
The Inbetweeners is available to watch on All 4.
