Teen Mom UK to launch on MTV in November
Popular American reality series Teen Mom is getting a British version – finally!
The controversial series, which examines the lives of teenage mothers experiencing the highs and lows of pregnancy and motherhood, will begin airing on MTV on November 2.
The new series will follow five teenage mums from the UK, whose identities have not yet been revealed.
Teen Mom UK is expected to shine a light on the good and bad that comes from having a child so young, and educate teens on the reality of being a young mother.
The format is extremely popular in the US, where it has run for seven years (although admittedly with a three year break between 2012 and 2015). The series was originally a 16 and Pregnant spin-off, although there is no similar 16 and Pregnant UK version.
MTV UK’s Jill Offman said: “MTV UK has a great track record of re-versioning hit shows from our sister channel in the U.S. – we turned Jersey Shore into Geordie Shore and smashed ratings records in the process.
“We’ll use this expertise to give Teen Mom a fresh lease of life, combined with a unique British twist, which we’re confident will have massive appeal to local audiences.”
