Strictly Come Dancing’s Anastacia WILL dance this weekend after injury fears
Pop singer Anastacia will dance in this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing, despite last week’s injury problems.
Anastacia became the subject of controversy last weekend after an injury prevented her from participating in the Strictly Come Dancing dance off, leading to the elimination of Melvin Odoom from the show.
The “I’m Outta Love” star had placed in the bottom two after the combined results from the judges and public were revealed, but was unable to defend her spot in the competition after tearing her mastectomy scar tissue in training. It was thus decided that the person eliminated would go down to the public vote, which sent Odoom and partner Janette Manrara packing.
Fans and Strictly professionals alike complained that if Anastacia was unable to perform, she should be the one to leave the show.
It has now been confirmed that Anastacia has been given the all clear to return to training and dancing on the popular BBC One ballroom competition. She and partner Brendan Coyle will dance a Viennese waltz on this Saturday’s show, and Coyle has been told to choreograph routines in such a way to avoid further aggravating the scars.
Anastacia is said to be delighted to be returning to the competition. A spokesperson said: “She is doing this to raise money for breast cancer, so unless a doctor tells her she can’t carry on, quitting would never be an option. Anastacia and Brendan are now in rehearsal.
“Anastacia visited the clinic of a specialist in breast reconstruction surgery. The doctor again confirmed that there was a tear in the scar tissue, which although painful is not permanent. She was given the all clear to dance this weekend with the caveat that the routine is carefully choreographed and she has been given the appropriate medication.
“Brendan was with her for her appointments and they have been filmed for this weekend’s episode.”
