Mel B opens up about father’s death
Mel B has spoken about dealing with loss following her father’s death.
Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women, the Spice Girl became emotional when speaking about her father, who passed away from cancer last year.
Talking to the panel, she said: “I don’t think that feeling ever goes away.
“A day doesn’t go by when I don’t think about him.”
Mel had been filming for America’s Got Talent around the time her father passed away. She recalled: “Simon Cowell stopped the filming for three weeks so I could come and be beside my dad’s bedside. I had to miss the funeral.”
As Mel fought back the tears, host Ruth Langsford said: “I don’t want to upset you.”
“No, it’s good to talk about it,” Mel replied. “In theory, it would have been really nice to be there. But I pray every day and I think about him every day, that’s enough for me that I can handle.”
When asked if losing a loved one has changed her perspective on life, the singer answered: “For me I’ve always lived life to the fullest, I’ve always been honest.
“But it makes you want to hug your kids more and be with your family. Even talking about it now, feelings come up as though it were only yesterday.”
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
