Russell Howard to star in new Sky 1 series
Comedian Russell Howard has landed a new series on Sky 1.
The Russell Howard’s Good News star will write and star in the series, which will air sometime next year after Howard has finished his comedy world tour.
The as-yet-untitled new series will air weekly for fourteen weeks and will be filmed in front of a studio audience. Howard’s also penned a two-year contract with Sky, so it’s a safe bet to say we’ll be seeing more from him on the platform.
There’s no word yet on exactly what the show will be about, but with staples such as Good News, Stand Up Central and Mock The Week in his list of credits, we’re sure Howard’s latest project be funny as hell.
Sky 1 Director Adam MacDonald promised the new show will be “a fantastic mix of everything we love about Russell and lots of new inventive comedy” and “an incredible addition to Sky 1”.
Russell Howard said: “I am delighted to be making this new show for Sky. It’s obviously the best part of a year away but I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Howard is currently preparing for his 2017 world tour, which kicks off in Dublin in February and finishes in Sydney’s famous Opera House in July. Along the way, he’ll be making stops across the UK, US, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Iceland and New Zealand. Tickets are available now.
