Rosie Webster is returning to Coronation Street
Prepare for trouble, Weatherfield, because Rosie Webster is coming home.
Five years after making her departure from Coronation Street, Helen Flanagan is returning to the soap that made her famous.
Flanagan grew up on screen as Rosie, the feisty daughter of Kevin and Sally Webster. During her years on the show, Rosie uncovered both her parents cheating on each other, had an affair with her A level teacher – who later kidnapped her (twice), and decided to pursue a modelling career against the advice of her family. She eventually left the cobbles to become a reality television star in 2012, and despite being frequently mentioned on the show, has not visited home since. Until now.
It was announced this morning that Flanagan would reprise her role on the soap for a brief stint in February 2017, when Rosie surprises her family by returning home with sister Sophie who has been visiting her in Miami. Corrie bosses are keeping tight-lipped on exactly why Rosie is returning home and what sort of drama awaits her, but an official press release promised her visit “won’t be uneventful”.
Coronation Street Producer Kate Oates said: “The Websters have missed Rosie and so have we. With Sophie away on holiday with her sister it seemed like the ideal time to bring Rosie back home with her for a visit. We are delighted that Helen is as keen explore what Rosie has been up to away from the cobbles as we are.”
Helen Flanagan said: “I’m so excited to be returning to Coronation Street and being part of the Webster family again.”
