Lifetime UK to broadcast star-studded Shining A Light concert
Everybody’s talking about A+E‘s upcoming live event, Shining A Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, which will take place this November 21st.
We’re now pleased to announce that the two-hour global event – which will see the biggest names in music joining together to promote more positive race relations in the USA and beyond – will be broadcast on Lifetime in the UK.
Among those stars performing to bring greater attention to America’s severe race relations problems will be Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Sia, Jamie Foxx, John Legend, Miguel, P!nk, Jill Scott, Bruce Springsteen, and Sting, with additional performers to be announced in the coming weeks. And we know already that there are some pretty stunning, once-in-a-lifetime duets planned.
Nancy Dubuc, President & CEO of A+E Networks, says of Shining A Light:
“As a global media company, A+E Networks has the privilege of being invited into the homes of millions of people around the world every day and we believe that it is our responsibility to use this incredible platform to inform as well as entertain. By shining a light on the uncomfortable truth that racial inequity and bias still impact our society, we are looking to inspire people to go beyond short-lived, symbolic gestures”.
The benefit concert will also help to raise money for the Fund for Progress on Race in America, which provides funding to individuals and organisations fostering understanding and eliminating bias, as well as providing support to Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church in South Carolina.
Shining A Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America will air on Lifetime UK at 10pm, Saturday November 21st.
