Honey G has already recorded her X Factor winner’s song
The remaining X Factor contestants have already recorded their potential winner’s songs.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor on Tuesday, quarter-finalists 5 After Midnight and Matt Terry both confirmed all the winner’s songs had been recorded.
Matt said: “I loved every second of it and the song is amazing.”
We don’t yet know which acts will be singing which song, but reports emerged earlier this month that Ed Sheeran has penned a potential winner’s song for the series.
The song will reportedly be an “acoustic ballad” that producers hope will rocket up the charts when released, following the embarrassment of last year’s winner Louisa Johnson only reaching number nine.
A source told The Sun: “Everything Ed does turns to gold. To have him write the winner’s song is huge and amazing news for this year’s winner.”
However, there’s no need to start trying to get your head around an Ed Sheeran song performed by Honey G, because some contestants will not be performing the track should they win.
The source added: “All the remaining contestants have heard the track and it works for the majority. They can’t believe potentially their first ever single will be written by Ed.”
We suspect neither Honey G nor 5 After Midnight will use Ed’s song, and indeed, 5 After Midnight confirmed on Xtra Factor that their winner’s song was different to Matt’s.
Despite all the songs being recorded, it is unlikely we will hear any alternative versions after the final of this year’s Xtra Factor. This means we might never find out what X Factor has planned for a Honey G win, which is extremely disappointing.
