Gotham to introduce Harley Quinn and Killer Croc
As the last season of Gotham heralded the DC show’s new villain-centric approach, with its Rise of the Villains subtitle and focus on Batman’s future nemeses as they sharpened their skills, it seemed only a matter of time until fan favourite villains Harley Quinn and Killer Croc were introduced to the show. Now, as season 3 fast approaches, and Suicide Squad goes strong in cinemas, the Joker’s crazed mistress and the sewer-dwelling scaled man could be making their debut on Gotham sooner than we thought.
According to Deadline, the show’s executive producers confirmed at the TCA summer press tour that fans should expect “proto versions” of Harley Quinn and Killer Croc to appear on Gotham some time soon. In other words, we’re likely to be introduced to early versions of the characters who will later grow to become the villains we know and love. We saw this in practice last season with Jerome, who is set up as a forerunner to the Joker, but is never officially announced as such, meaning he could equally get written off the show if he proves unpopular with viewers.
So no, we shan’t be seeing Margot Robbie and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje bringing their characters to the small screen, but it’s rather exciting nevertheless.
The EPs also confirmed that Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney will appear in the first two episodes of season 3, before returning for the second half of the season.
Gotham season 3 premieres Monday September 19th on FOX in the US, and is expected to follow on Channel 5 in the UK soon after.
