Brendan Cole could miss this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing
Brendan Cole may be forced to miss this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing due to illness.
The professional dancer, who partners Anastacia in the ballroom dancing competition, was struck down with a serious chest infection last weekend. He was rushed to A&E shortly before the live show on Saturday, and has now been told he has to sit out this week’s training.
Cole has now said that he’s not sure whether he will be fit in time to dance on Saturday, explaining on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two: “I’ll see the doctor again, he said take off until Thursday / Friday at least.”
Gorka Marquez, who partnered EastEnders star Tameka Empson before her departure from the competition, has taken over training with Anastacia while Cole recovers. However, Cole will still play in Saturday’s show regardless of what happens, as he choreographed the dance she will be performing.
Cole joked that he wasn’t sure how happy he was about being replaced by the hunky Marquez, admitting: “I’ll let you into a little secret. We have the lovely Gorka stepping in for me for a few days.
“I don’t know how happy I am about it – he’s Spanish, he’s good looking and has a body which is pretty much the best on the show.”
The loyal Anastacia joked that she “hadn’t noticed” Marquez’ body and that training sessions with his had been “awful”.
